Taxonomy
Goniatites tridens was named by Sandberger and Sandberger (1850). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Pharciceras tridens by Göddertz (1987), Korn and Klug (2002), Bockwinkel et al. (2009), Bockwinkel et al. (2013) and Bockwinkel et al. (2015).
