Taxonomy
Neoglyptatelus sincelejanus was named by Villarroel and Clavijo (2005). Its type specimen is JC 529454 A , an osteoderm, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Calle Fria-Segovia, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial sandstone in the Sincelejo Formation of Colombia.

Differ from N. originalis in smaller size, carapace plates smaller and thinner, internal structure of the plates less marked, in consecuence the central and periferial figures are almost flat; 1 to 3 foramina piliferous per plate, smaller than in N. originalis
