Palaeophonus nuncius
Taxonomy
Palaeophonus nuncius was named by Thorell and Lindström (1884). Its type specimen is SRM Ar.32235, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Vattenfallet section, Visby, top of Högklintslager beds, which is in a Sheinwoodian carbonate limestone in the Högklint Formation of Sweden. It is the type species of Palaeophonus.
