Eostrophalosia was named by Stainbrook (1943) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give-u D Fras-u Sepkoski's reference number: 25,708].

It was assigned to Strophalosiinae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960); to Donalosiinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
