Gemmellaroia (Gemmellaroiella) was named by Mabuti (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1].

It was synonymized subjectively with Gemmellaroia by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960), Williams et al. (2000); it was reranked as Gemmellaroialla by Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Gemmellaroia by Mabuti (1937); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
