It was recombined as Zygaena prisca by Cope (1875); it was recombined as Cestracion prisca by Arambourg (1927); it was recombined as Carcharhinus priscus by Agassiz (1843), Vicens and Rodríguez-Perea (2003), dos Reis (2005), Kocsis (2007), Reinecke and Radwanski (2015), Kent (2018), Villafaña et al. (2020).
