Heptranchias howellii
Taxonomy
Notidanion howellii was named by Reed (1946). Its type specimen is ANSP 15078, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Belmar, which is in a Bartonian marine horizon in the Shark River Formation of New Jersey.
It was recombined as Heptranchias howelli by Long (1992); it was recombined as Heptranchias howellii by Welton (1974) and Carrillo-Briceño et al. (2016).
