Taxonomy
Septalaria was named by Leihold (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife-u D Give-l Sepkoski's reference number: 25]. Its type is Terebratula subtetragona. It is the type genus of Septalariidae.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pseudocamarophoria by Grant (1965).

It was assigned to Septalariidae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
