Taxonomy
Turrilites polyplocus was named by Roemer (1841). It is the type species of Bostrychoceras, Bostrychoceras.

It was recombined as Nostoceras (Bostrychoceras) polyplocum by Kennedy (1986) and Küchler and Odin (2001); it was recombined as Bostrychoceras polyplocum by Hyatt (1900), Atabekyan and Khakimov (1976), Kennedy and Summesberger (1999), Arkadiev et al. (2000) and Ifrim et al. (2015).
