Illusioluidia was named by Blake and Guensburg (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Illusioluidia teneryi. It is the type genus of Illusioluididae.

It was assigned to Uractinida by Blake and Guensburg (1989) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Illusioluididae by Blake (2018).
