Taxonomy
Caiman wannlangstoni was named by Salas-Gismondi et al. (2015). Its type specimen is MUSM 2377, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IQ26, which is in a Miocene lacustrine - large lignite in the Pebas Formation of Peru.
