Athabascacrinus was named by Laudon and Parks (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u Sepkoski's reference number: 986]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Periechocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
