Calceocrinus was named by Hall (1852) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l S Ludl]. It is not extant. Its type is Cheirocrinus chrysalis. It is the type genus of Calceocrinidae.
It was assigned to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Calceocrinidae by Ausich (1998) and Ausich and Copper (2010).
