Calceocrinus was named by Hall (1852) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l S Ludl]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Calceocrinidae.

It was assigned to Calceocrinidae by Ausich (1998); and to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002).
