Taxonomy
Pisocrinus was named by de Koninck (1858) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u D Eife]. Its type is Pisocrinus pilula. It is the type genus of Pisocrinidae, Pisocrinoidea.

It was assigned to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pisocrinidae by Ramsbottom (1958) and Webster and Rakhmonov (2009).

Synonyms
  • Parapisocrinus was named by Mu (1954) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl D Emsi-u Webster: Ausich 1977, presented solid arguments to place Parapisocrinus in synonomy of Pisocrinus with which I agree. However, Rozhnov, 1981, recongized the genus.].

    It was synonymized subjectively with Pisocrinus by Webster and Rakhmonov (2009).

    It was assigned to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002).
