Aglaocrinus was named by Strimple (1961) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash P Wc]. It is not extant. Its type is Aglaocrinus magnus.

It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cromyocrinidae by Pabian and Rushlau (2002).
