Cyathocrinites was named by Miller (1821) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl C Vise-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Cyathocrinites planus. It is the type genus of Cyathocrinitidae, Cyathocrinitacea.
It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); to Cyathocrinitidae by Campbell and Bein (1971), Ubaghs et al. (1978), Webster and Lane (1987), Ausich and Copper (2010); and to Cyathocrinidae by Kammer and Roeser (2012).
