Taxonomy
Scytalocrinus was named by Wachsmuth and Springer (1880) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-u C Step-u]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Scytalocrinacea, Scytalocrinidae.

It was assigned to Scytalocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978) and Lane et al. (2001); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
