Taxonomy
Labechia was named by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1851). Its type is Monticularia conferta.

It was assigned to Labechiidae by Bolton (1988), Stearn et al. (1999) and Percival et al. (2001); and to Stromatoporoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
