It was assigned to Pycnodontiformes by Sepkoski (2002); to Nursalliinae by Poyato-Ariza and Wenz (2002); to Nursalliidae by Shimada et al. (2006), Nagrodski et al. (2012); and to Pycnodontidae by Woodward (1895), Carnevale et al. (2014), Bannikov (2014).
