Taxonomy
Macrocollum itaquii was named by Müller et al. (2018). Its type specimen is CAPPA/UFSM 0001a, a skeleton (Almost complete and articulated skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wachholz site, which is in a Norian crevasse splay sandstone in the Caturrita Formation of Brazil.
