Bulla virescens was named by Sowerby (1833).

It was recombined as Haminea virescens by Arnold (1903); it was synonymized subjectively with Haminoea cymbiformis by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Haminoea virescens by Addicott (1970), Hendy (2021).
