Taxonomy
Wyonycteris was named by Gingerich (1987). It is not extant. Its type is Wyonycteris chalix.
It was assigned to Palaeochiropterygidae by Gingerich (1987); to Adapisoriculidae by Smith (1995); to Nyctitheriidae by McKenna and Bell (1997), Gingerich and Smith (2006), Gunnell et al. (2008); and to Placentidentinae by Beard and Dawson (2009), Jones and Beard (2023).
