Taxonomy
Pliauchenia was named by Cope (1875) [called into question by Patton 1969a]. Its type is Pliauchenia humphreysiana.
It was assigned to Miolabinae by Hay (1902); to Camelinae by Simpson (1945); to Camelidae by Cope (1875), Matthew and Cook (1909) and Carroll (1988); and to Lamini by Webb (1965) and Honey et al. (1998).
