Trigenicus was named by Douglass (1903) [treated as a synonym of Leptotragulus by Tabrum and Nichols 2001, but without discussion of Storer 1996]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Merycoidodontidae by Scott (1940); and to Protoceratidae by Douglass (1903), Storer (1996), Prothero (1998).
