Taxonomy
Cyathea siwalika was named by Bera et al. (2014). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, CUH/PPL/IB7/TF/1 (stem fragment). Its type locality is Chander Nagar-Gohpur Road cutting, Itanagar, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene fluvial shale in the Kimin Formation of India.
