Taxonomy
Steneofiber gradatus was named by Cope (1878) [also said to be 1879]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Palaeocastor gradatus by Stirton (1935); it was recombined as Capacikala gradatus by Macdonald (1963), Macdonald (1970), Fremd (1994), Xu (1996).
