Taxonomy
Angusaurus was named by Getmanov (1989). It is not extant. Its type is Angusaurus dentatus.

It was assigned to Benthosuchidae by Shishkin et al. (2000); to Thoosuchinae by Novikov (2007); and to Trematosaurinae by Fortuny et al. (2018).
