Bacutriletes triangulatus was named by Taylor and Taylor (1988). Its type locality is NF Basal, Anfiteatro de Tico, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina, which is in the Barremian/Aptian of volcaniclastic the Baquero Formation Argentina.
