Chlamys squamosa was named by Gmelin (1791) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Indo-Pacific. m. kosnik taxon no: 10298]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Ostrea squamosa by Gmelin (1791); it was recombined as Laevichlamys squamosa by Waller (1993) and Kiessling (2009).
