Patagopteryx deferrariisi
Taxonomy
Patagopteryx deferrariisi was named by Alvarenga and Bonaparte (1992). Its type specimen is MACN-N 03, a partial skeleton (incomplete postcranial skeleton consisting of 18 vertebrae, synsacrum, and much of the pectoral and pelvic girdles, wings, and hindlimbs), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Boca del Sapo, Universidad Nacional del Comahue, which is in a Santonian fluvial-deltaic sandstone in the Bajo de la Carpa Formation of Argentina.
