Colognathus obscurus

Taxonomy
Xenognathus obscurus was named by Case (1928). Its type specimen is UMMP 7506, a tooth (Jaw fragment containing tooth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Head of Holmes Creek, which is in a Carnian/Norian channel lag claystone in the Tecovas Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Colognathus obscurus by Case (1933), Murry (1986), Long and Murry (1995), Irmis (2005).
