Euomphalus planispira was named by Hall (1856). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Straparollus planispira by Cumings (1906) and Girty (1915); it was recombined as Straparollus (Straparollus) planispira by Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Serpulospira planispira by Wagner (2023).
