Taxonomy
Lottia was named by Gray (1833) [Sepkoski's age data: T Plio-u R]. It is extant. Its type is Lottia gigantea. It is the type genus of Lottiini.

It was assigned to Patellidae by Abbott (1974); to Patellogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Lottiini by Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Lottiidae by Landau et al. (2016).
