Stratigraphy
Formation:Campito Member:Montenegro
Local section:MW-3
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: 19m from the base of the section and 9m thick. Conceptually, the boundary for the Montezuman stage should be placed on the earliest trilobite occurrence, but this is a very difficult point to define in the field. The reference point for the base of the Montezuman stage is at the base of the abundance and range zone of an Eofallotaspis-like trlobite which is 15.4m above a quartzite selected as the top of the Andrews Mountains Member (315m below the top of the Campito Formation).
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: lithified silty "shale"
Secondary lithology: lithified argillaceous sandstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: silty shale and argillaceous fine-grained micaceous sandstone that is very thin-bedded to wavy-bedded at the top.
Environment:transition zone/lower shoreface
Taphonomy
Collection methods and comments
Collection methods:bulk,field collection
Reason for describing collection:biostratigraphic analysis
Taxonomic list comments:The list is actually a composite for 3 sections with the same faunal occurrences (Section MW-3, MW-3S, and MW-3) located within 50 miles of each other.
