Stratigraphy
Geological group: | Cow Head | Formation: | Green Point | Member: | Broom Point |
Stratigraphy comments: Local section is Broom Point South of Fortey and Skevington 1980, Fortey et al 1982, James and Stevens 1986. Fortey et al 1982 indicate that this collection came from the interval between the B2 and B1 boulder beds but James and Stevens 1986 indicate that this collection probably came from 25 m above the B1 boulder bed. |
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | shelly/skeletal,gray grainstone |
Secondary lithology: | mudstone |
Includes fossils? | Y |
Lithology description: "The fossils were recovered from one small limestone lens interbedded with dark argillites, bearing dendroid graptolites. Dr. Oxley states that the fossils were definitely collected from regularly bedded strata, not from a boulder. The rock is a rather light gray crystalline highly fossiliferous limestone." | |
