Paleocoordinates:60.2° North, 108.9° West
Basis of coordinate:based on nearby landmark
Geographic resolution:outcrop
Time
Period: Paleogene Epoch: Eocene
Stage: Ypresian 10 m.y. bin: Cenozoic 2
Key time interval: Ypresian
Age range of interval: 56 - 47.8 m.y. ago
Age estimate: 51.77 ± 0.34 Ma (Ar/Ar)
Stratigraphy
Geological group:Ootsa Lake
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: Okanagan Highlands localities traditionally considered middle Eocene (Lutetian) but more recently others have been shown to be early Eocene (Ypresian). U-Pb and Ar-Ar dates of Ootsa Lake Gp volcanics at other localities give age range of 53.2-47.6 Ma, spanning Ypresian and Lutetian, but position of Driftwood Canyon within that range is unknown. 51.77 ± 0.34 according to Archibald et al., 2014.
