Stratigraphy
Stratigraphic resolution:formation
Stratigraphy comments: Overlying the Puca Group represented by tectonically deformed Cretaceous and Paleogene layers.

This collection had Puca group assigned, but this group has a late age of Paleocene. The Lacayani fauna comes from rocks overlying the Puca group.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:red claystone
Secondary lithology:brown,yellow conglomeratic sandstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: reddish clays (fossiliferous sediments), alternating muds, brown-yellow sands and conglomerates (made up of metasedimentary, sandstone, Cretaceous volcanic clasts)
Environment:terrestrial indet.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body
Size of fossils:macrofossils
Disassociated minor elements:all
Collection methods and comments
Collection excludes:some genera
Collection methods:surface (float),field collection
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
Taxonomic list comments:Unlike Salla Rodents, Lacayani Rodents are strongly hypsodont
