Geology comments: "Occurs in marls and nodular, argillitic-detrital limestones. The largest number of species and greatest population densities are seen in the shallower occurrences. The comm. occurs through a broad zone, interpreted to represent shallow to deep shelf, outer part of BA 2 through 3. This comm. is replaced by the Syringaxon siluriense Comm. and is surrounded by the Pentamerus gothlandicus Comm. (the actual distance is 10-30 m or more to each other)."
