Stratigraphy comments: The succession of Claiborne Group in northeastern Mexico is exceptionally thick and well correlated to those units of the same name in Texas on the basis of faunal similarity. The Mount Selman Formation includes of 2,500 ft of sediments, mostly shales and sandstones. The formation is correlated to the Lisborn Formation of the Gulf Coast. The scattered outcrops are mostly barren.
