Stratigraphy
Formation:Guasasa Member:El Americano
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:gray lithified lime mudstone
Secondary lithology:brown,gray lithified argillaceous "limestone"
Lithology description: 1.5 m. Dark-grey, micritic, medium-bedded limestone, with intercalations of greyish-brown marly limestone and dark-grey marly shale. The limestone layers have wavy bounderies.
Environment:open shallow subtidal
Geology comments: The Lower Tithonian strata of the Sierra de los Organos were laid down in a shallow, poorly ventilated sea. At the end of the Early Tithonian, the conditions of sedimentation changed slightly, mainly due to moderate deepening of the basin.
