Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | volcaniclastic, gray, red or brown calcareous mudstone |
Secondary lithology: | gray cherty/siliceous "limestone" |
Lithology description: "The sediments show a predominance of brown and grey-brown lamintaed calcareous mudstones with tuffaceous admixture and frequent intercalations anc concretions of ine-grained grey limestones or dolomites, locally silicified." | |
Environment: | marine indet. |
Geology comments: "Trilobites commonly preserved...slightly disarticulated or complete...Fauna, usually concentrated in thin laminae...The facies is typically transitional between the carbonate and shale developments and its palaeogeographical position is analogous as that with the Mirapis- and Aulacopleura konincki Assemblages of Wenlockian age (a rather deep subtidal, lesser energy BA 4). |
