Stratigraphy
Formation:Fombuena Member:Pena del Tormo
Local section:Molino Bajo Local bed:8 m
Local order:bottom to top
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: Locally called the "Upper iron oolite and bryozoan marls"
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:concretionary,ferruginous lithified grainstone
Secondary lithology:shelly/skeletal lithified silty,conglomeratic "shale"
Lithology description: Iron-rich, pellitic oolites and intraformational nodules grading into bryozoan-rich, marly and partly silty shales with some quartzite pebbles. At this section the Pefia del Tormo Member lacks the marly beds with bryozoans that characterize the unit southwest of this outcrop, including the two former sections. The basal ironstone is only 45 cm thick and is immediately succeeded by the alternating sandstones and shales of the Huerva Member.
Environment:sand shoal
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body,cast
Size of fossils:macrofossils,mesofossils
Collection methods and comments
Collection excludes:all microfossils,some macrofossils,species names
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
