Stratigraphy comments: New Zealand Stage nomenclature (Warren, 1995) places the Conway Siltstone at Haumuri Bluff in the lower Haumurian. Correlation with global Upper Cretaceous stages places the Haumuri Bluff section in the lower to middle Campanian; these correlations and age assessments are based on the indexing provided by dinoflagellates, inoceramids, and foraminiferans (Roncaglia and Schioler, 1997).
