Local section:Crystal River Rock Co. quarry Local bed:123 ft
Local order:bottom to top
Regional section:Citrus
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC SOUCE: Individual bed (13) within measured section. STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Suwannee Lmst was erected by Cooke amd Mansfield (1936) for exposures of hard limestone in local region and locally overlies the Crystal River Fm. AGE: Early Oligocene (Rupelian). SPECIFIC STRATIGRAPHY: 17 ft thick limestone at top of 131 ft section.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:very coarse,shelly/skeletal,yellow lithified "limestone"
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Cream colored, porous, firmly cemented, detrital limestone composed of echinoid plates and spines, poorly preserved forams and granular calcite.
Environment:carbonate indet.
Geology comments: GENERAL ENVIRONMENT: Environment not specified, but carbonate facies.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:cast,mold/impression
Size of fossils:macrofossils
Preservation of anatomical detail:poor
Collection methods and comments
Collection methods:selective quarrying,field collection
Reason for describing collection:general faunal/floral analysis
Collection method comments: SOURCE: Based on field collecting. REPOSITORIES: Unknown repository for molluscs, echinoids and foraminifera, presumably Florida Geological Survey.
Taxonomic list comments:SOURCE: Vernon (1951) for all taxa. COVERAGE: Probably limited for all groups due to poor preservation. NOMENCLATURE: Slightly antiquated for molluscs and echinoids.
