Environment/lithology: offshore shelf; lithified, pyritic, calcareous mudstone

• The fossils are found in a calcareous mudstone in a 350 m thick succession composed of dark, strongly cleaved mudstone with scattered rare calc-mudstone and concretionary bands that are more resistant to weathering than the intervening mudstone. The base and top of the section are obscured by snow and ice cover. The mudstone contains scattered pyrite crystals.
