Where: Aragón, Spain (42.5° N, 0.2° W: paleocoordinates 41.2° N, 3.5° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Margas de Pamplona Formation, Priabonian (38.0 - 33.9 Ma)
• Jaca Basin. Data on the biostratigraphy (Canudo & Molina, 1988; Canudo et al., 1988) and magnetostratigraphy (Hogan, 1991) indicate a Bartonian-Priabonian age for the Margas de Pamplona Formation, and the calibration of Pueyo-Morer et al. (2002), establish the lower and upper limits of this formation from 40.32 to 37.17 mya which corresponds to a Bartonian-early Priabonian age. Sometimes called Margas de Arguís Formation.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: deep subtidal; poorly lithified marl
Size class: macrofossils
