Stratigraphy
Formation: | Takli | ||||
Stratigraphic resolution: | bed
Stratigraphy comments: Intertrappean beds within Deccan Traps; the informal "Takli Formation" is Maastrichtian in age based on on palynology, vertebrate, and ostracod fauna. Bed is "only a few inches thick" at Takli (Hislop & Hunter, 1855). |
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | lithified siltstone
Environment: | lacustrine - small | Tectonic setting: | passive margin |
Geology comments: "Part of a lake, extensive enough to be bounded at least on the west and south, and probably on all sides, by the horizon" (Hislop & Hunter, 1855). Likely a shallow lake given thin extent of lacustrine bed. |
