Stratigraphy
Formation: | Monte Hermoso
Stratigraphy comments: The lateral accretion deposits are mainly represented at the
middle sector of the cliff, and include the St, Sr, Fsc and Fcf facies. These levels are equivalent to the “Piso Chapadmalense” of Vignati (1948), the “Miembro de Limolitas Estratificadas” and “Miembro de Limolitas Claras” of Bonaparte (1960), the “Unidad B” of Fidalgo et al. (1975), and the “Unidad Litoestratigráfica II” of Fidalgo and Tonni (1982) This collection had a E. Pliocene, Montehermosan SALMA but it's Chapadmalalan? |
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | brown,green breccia |
Lithology description: The St facies is composed of dark brown to greenish clastsupported breccias, composed of silty and sandy intraclasts over 15 cm in diameter, some of them rounded, and a silt-sand matrix. In some sections, this facies is massive; while a planar cross-bedding is observed in others
Environment: | fluvial indet. |
