Stratigraphy
Formation: | Clayton | Member: | Pine Barren
Stratigraphic resolution: | group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: From the "Turritella Rock" which belongs to the upper part of NP2, and the mid-upper part of P1a (Schulte & Speijer 2009). |
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | glauconitic, gray lithified sandy packstone |
Lithology description: lithology described as grey to pale orange glauconitic, sandy, crystalline fossiliferous limestone
Environment: | open shallow subtidal |
Geology comments: Schulte & Speijer 2009: Some cement within the Turritella Rock suggests occasional emersion. Planktonic foraminifera are nearly absent, suggesting very shallow environment. Sandy bioclastic packstone (e.g., Turritella Rock) accumulated in shallow, inner neritic settings. |
