Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:planar lamination,fine,pebbly silty "siliciclastic"
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: The base of the member comtains boulder-rich diamicton, interpreted here as till. Overlying this is a sequence of finely laminated silty clay with scattered stones. The top of this member is usually truncated and the fine sediments are overlain by the sandy member B with an erosional hiatus.
Environment:marine indet.
Glacial or sequence phase:regressive
Geology comments: Scattered mollusc shells in the clay-silt sediment show that it is marine and Member A is interpreted as glacigenic and glaciomarine from the end of a major glaciation of the area. The marine sediments were probably sedimentated during the isostatically conditioned regression that followed te glaciation.
